Anyway, December 2009 was a blast for me. I went white water rafting for the first time in the mighty Padas River in Tenom, Sabah. I went with a group of 8 persons, including my mom and my cousin Gwen..there were other people, mostly foreign tourists, who were going rafting with us.
We booked through Riverbug, a local tour company specializing in white water rafting.
The trip started with a coach ride in the morning, making our way up to the small town called Tenom, which is in the interior part of Sabah. The journey took about 2 hours. We made a 15-minute stop halfway, at a resort called Dimie Pedalaman Resort. We met a very friendly dog there, too!

Upon reaching Tenom, we made a stop near a public toilet to get changed into proper rafting apparel. After that, we made our way to the train tracks, where the real adventures began!
To get to the rafting starting point, we had to use trolleys made out of wooden planks as you can see in the photos above. The "roller coaster" ride took about 45 minutes, on the oldest train route in Sabah, going through lush green tropical rainforest.. See how much fun we were having! We ended up getting a full "body massage" and sore bottoms though! Haha...
Next: Gearing up for rafting! Woohoo!
